The Dasjesdrift House Theatre between Heidelberg and Witsand has been a dream of the cabaret artist Niël Rademan for a long time. This is truly a harbour for artists and artistic people. The scenery is breathtaking and on creative level is it really stimulating. The Dasjesdrift Theatre House is one of a few Cape Dutch houses in the area that still exists. It was built after the depression in the thirties by well-off farmers. The house has two gigantic gables with high ceilings and floors of Oregon pine wood. The house has an enormous enclosed veranda right around. The other buildings on the farm is also very eye-catching and in a good condition. Niël Rademan sees this Theatre House as his duty to service the people of this region in the arts and entertainment. This theatre has become so popular, that art lovers from all over the country come to Heidelberg for this unique theatre experience. Dasjesdrift offers a show once per month, accompanied by a three course meal. For special occasions, traditional meals can be prepared. The house can be booked for conferences, teambuilding sessions and private functions eg Small weddings. Of our country’s leading artists like Rory Rootenberg, Helena Hettema, Charl of Heyningen, Marion Holm, Wouter van de Venter, Zorada Temmingh, Sanet Allen, Jannie du Toit, Christa Steyn, Tertia Visser -Downie, Joanie Combrinck, Johann Nel, Susanne Beyers, Charlene Truter, Louis Loock, Martelize Kolver, Leon Kruger, Ollie Viljoen, Valiant Swart, Lize Beekman and many more have all performed at the Dasjesdrift House Theatre. The program is highly diverse and every performance is picked out by hand, to ensure the highest of quality entertainment. Affordable accommodation is also available: Two double rooms and a family room with a double bed and 2 single beds. Various artists have all visited this theatre for recreation and a bit of peaceful distraction and inspiration. Do yourself a favour and drive down the country road towards Witsand – where the sounds of the city drown out and the noise of creativity takes over. How to get to DASJESDRIFT: Route from Cape Town: Drive along the N2 untill you reach the Witsand / Port Beufort turnoff (R322) just before the Blue Crane farm stall. Turn right. Keep driving on for ±9km (avoid any other Witsand turn offs) untill you reach an official Dasjesdrift sign. Turn right! Follow the theatre signs and voila! Route from George: Drive along the N2. Pass Heidelberg. Turn left at the Witsand / Port Beufort road (R322) - just after the Blue Crane farmstall. Keep driving on for ±9km (avoid any other Witsand turn offs) untill you reach an official Dasjesdrift sign. Turn right! Follow the theatre signs and voila!
