George, surrounded by the Outeniqua Mountains, forests, rivers and prosperous farmlands, lies 420 km from Cape Town and 320 km from Port Elizabeth. This makes George the perfect stopover from which to explore the Garden Route. It is the heart of the Southern Cape and the main business centre of the Garden Route. With sophisticated road, air and rail links to all major centres in South Africa, it is a convenient base from which to explore the many attractions of the Garden Route.

It is one of South Africa’s premier golfing destinations offering around 10 courses, driving ranges and a world class golf academy. These include the Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate, Oubaai Golf Estate and the George Golf Club. Other things to do include the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe, George Botanical Gardens, hiking, walking and beautiful beaches in close proximity to the town.
