The word Halcyon is derived from the Greek word for "Kingfisher" , a combination of the word "hals" (the sea) and "kuo" (to brood on). The Kingfisher, a long-time symbol of peace and prosperity, was believed by the ancients to breed in a nest floating on the sea. It was said that the Kingfisher had the power to charm the winds and the waves into calmness.

Plettenberg Bay lies at the heart of the Garden Route ... Surrounded by places with names such as "Nature's Valley" and "Garden of Eden", it is a true paradise - miles of rugged coastline and golden sand beaches alongside mountains, dramatic river valleys, magnificent indigenous forests and truly unique fynbos.

THE NAUTILUS ROOM

A comfortable two bedroom unit with lovely sea and mountain views. The unit provides en-suite accommodation for a couple, (and the use of the 2nd bedroom as a dressing room). Alternatively, with separate bathroom and shower room, the unit is specifically geared towards accommodating a party of three or four.
