LITTLE BRAK RIVER




Little Brak River, also known as Klein Brakrivier, is a small holiday village situated on the banks of the river, in a bird sanctuary. A tranquil little paradise made up of sea, lagoon and river, wedged between Mossel Bay and Groot Brakrivier , it is renowned for having the mildest climate throughout the year.

The river is navigable for about twenty kilometres and teeming with fish, which means there is excellent boating, fishing and canoeing to be done. If you are a keen angler, you are likely to catch some elf, kob, or leervis. The Little Brak lagoon is within walking distance of the village and is ideal for swimming and canoeing. The Little Brak beach is safe, un-crowded and offers surf and rock fishing.

Being situated within a bird sanctuary, bird watching in this area is spectacular. Birdlife is rich and varied, providing avid birdwatchers hours of pleasure. During June to November, the whale migration period, you can do some whale watching.

There are also a number of Game reserves in the area for prime game viewing, eg Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary. At the Little Brak Game Park, just outside the village, visitors can view the Big five and go for elephant rides. You can also go for a Game drive on quad bikes.
